The Royal College of Nursing and Army Cadets UK have recently signed a ground-breaking agreement to support cadets interested in a career in healthcare. This is a monumental step forward in helping young people interested in the health professions pursue their dreams.

Maj Gen Jon Swift OBE, Commander Cadets and Professor David Clarke, Head of the Royal College of Nursing, Prince of Wales Nursing Cadet Scheme, signed the agreement, which will provide cadets with the tools and resources they need to deliver courses to assist with a successful transition into the healthcare profession. The partnership will include formal training sessions, mentored placements in healthcare settings and cadets who compete the scheme can access ongoing support and events from the RCN as nursing cadet alumni..

"This scheme provides excellent opportunities for our cadets who wish to pursue a career in healthcare. From those cadets who have already participated in the scheme, we have seen some go into employment with many others going into further education to become paramedics and nurses."

"I am incredibly proud of our partnership with the Army Cadets. Together the RCN and the Army Cadets have helped many young people explore careers in nursing and other health professions and we look forward to working with more cadets and Army Cadet battalions, Counties and Sectors in the future."

David Clarke, Head of the Royal College of Nursing, Prince of Wales Nursing Cadet Scheme

The agreement marks a significant moment in the relationship between the two organisations, allowing cadets to benefit from the expertise and support of the Royal College of Nursing. This will help cadets develop the skills and knowledge they need to pursue a career in healthcare.

The agreement is a testament to the commitment of both organisations to set young people up for lifelong success and allow them to achieve their goals. It is an exciting opportunity for cadets interested in healthcare, and we look forward to seeing the impact it will have on their future.
