The Adventure Start Here
Clwyd & Gwynedd Army Cadets
The Army Cadets is about fun, friendship, action, adventure, skills, and leadership opportunities for young people aged 12 and above. Cadets experience various training such as fieldcraft exercises, first aid, community engagement, and more—all while making lifelong friends and having fun. We inspire young people to challenge their limits and go further in life, no matter what they aim to do. Our passionate team of adult volunteers, aged 18+, helps guide and inspire cadets while gaining their own skills and qualifications. Whether you’re a young person looking for challenge and growth or an adult wanting to give back, there’s a place for you in the Army Cadets.
The first thing to know about our county is that we are not one county! Within Clwyd and Gwynedd Army Cadets, there are the six counties of North Wales.
We are split into four home companies:
- Burma Company with detachments in Conwy, Anglesey, and Gwynedd,
- Minden Company with detachments in Gwynedd,
- Somme Company with detachments in Conwy, Denbighshire, and Flintshire, and
- Cambrai Company with detachments in Wrexham and Flintshire

Corps of Drums
Music is a vibrant alternative activity offered by the Army Cadets, with cadets able to join the Corps of Drums alongside traditional Army Cadet training. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a skilled musician, everyone is welcome! Cadets train regularly across North Wales and have trained alongside the Band of the Royal Welsh. Twice a year, over 500 cadets from across the UK gather for music camps, culminating in large-scale performances. Following the Army Cadet syllabus, cadets can earn BTECs in music or public services while developing life skills. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, the Corps of Drums welcomes you – dare to be different!
