Earn Valuable Qualifications and Skills with Army Cadets
Stand out from the competition by earning, alongside our own Army Cadet awards, internationally recognised qualifications that will help you whether you are applying for college or university or looking for your first job.
What Can I Achieve at Army Cadets?
Many of the highly respected qualifications we offer can be earned as you advance through our Army Cadet syllabus. These include certifications in first aid, amateur radio operation, music, and navigation.
We also offer courses that enable you to gain national governing body qualifications in outdoor activities, such as Sports Leadership, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, rock climbing, and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
In addition, as you build your confidence and develop your skills in teamwork, leadership, communication, problem-solving, adaptability and resilience, you have the opportunity to have these skills formally recognised in the form of teamwork and leadership qualifications.
In Scotland, Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) qualifications in personal development, teamwork, leadership and delivering training are mapped to our Army Cadet Syllabus and will earn internationally recognised Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) learning credits.
In the rest of the UK, we work in partnership with the Cadet Vocational College to offer to cadets aged 16-18 qualifications with the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) and the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), through which you can earn UCAS points.
Many of our qualifications can be gained at little or no cost to the cadet, and where there is a cost, financial support may be available for those who meet the necessary criteria.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Other qualifications, such as the highly-acclaimed Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, are based on the syllabus but require just a little extra activity to complete. It’s a nationally recognised programme that helps you build valuable life skills and stand out to future employers and universities.
