Welcome to the Cadet Centre for Adventurous Training

The Cadet Centre for Adventurous Training (CCAT) delivers Adventurous Training qualifications and skill-based experience courses for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) and Cadets aged 15+ from the Army Cadets.

We offer a wide range of challenging, inspiring, and progressive courses, all safely managed, at levels ranging from Basic to Intermediate skills, up to Leader and Instructor qualifications.  These courses follow the Army Cadets Adventurous Training (ACAT) and National Governing Body (NGB) accredited schemes.

We offer CFAVs a clear pathway to earn National Governing Body (NGB) accredited qualifications in adventurous activities, including:

  • Lowland Leader
  • Hill Walking Leader
  • Mountaineering Leader
  • Rock Climbing Instructor (indoor and outdoor)
  • Mountain Bike Leader
  • Skiing Instructor
  • Paddlesport Leader/Instructor

Our goal is to develop a core group of qualified instructors and leaders with the skills and experience to deliver safe, enjoyable, and progressive activities within ACF and CCF units.

Senior Cadets (15+) can embark on a pathway to gain Basic and Intermediate skills qualifications in:

  • Summer, Winter, and Alpine Mountaineering
  • Rock Climbing & Winter Climbing
