  • National

Last Friday, more than 80 cadets, ex-cadets, and CFAVs travelled to Buckingham Palace to be presented with their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Awards! They were joined by family members and CFAVs who had supported them through their journey, including:

  • Major Kerry Barker - DofE Advisor HQSW
  • Capt Kyle James - DofE Advisor 160X
  • Capt Tom Holloway - DofE Officer Sussex Army Cadet Force
  • Capt Caroline Wheatley - DofE Officer Dorset Army Cadet Force
  • Capt Deb Major - DofE Officer Oxfordshire Army Cadet Force
  • Lt Jo Moody - DofE Officer Staffordshire & West Midlands (North Sector) Army Cadet Force and formerly Derbyshire Army Cadet Force (Mercian Regiment)!

Major Kerry Barker, plus two Army Cadet recipients – SI Jordan Farrelly and ex-cadet Jacob Lightfoot – were selected to be presented to HRH The Earl of Wessex, thanks to their commitment to the DofE Award and the positive impact of their Award activities.

In addition, Army Cadets DofE Ambassador, Sally Orange, was there speaking on the Adventure Stage, and she was delighted to meet lots of our participants and adults. And of course #EveryCadetBear was there too, enjoying the tea and cakes!

Well done to all the recipients of this highly prestigious Award, and to all the Leaders who have supported them on their journey.

Cadets in attendance to support the event

There were also cadets and CFAVs at the event in a supporting role: cadets and CFAVs from Greater London South East Sector Army Cadet Force, City of London & North East Sector Army Cadets and Essex Army Cadet Force were undertaking marshalling and other support duties. This was the first time for many years that Army Cadets had been selected to perform this prestigious role. Huge thanks to Maj Garry Tooey, SSI Russ Mott, SSI Amanda Wixon and all the other staff and cadets who gave up their day to play their part in this event.
