Not many young people can say they have had the chance to meet a member of the Royal Family, but this is exactly what happened for Cadet Sergeants’ Lara Breeze and Matthew Williams from Merseyside ACF.

It was a Royal Occasion for two Merseyside Cadets who recently the opportunity to meet Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal at the official opening of Alt House, the new Headquarters for NW RFCA at Altcar Training Camp on 26 July.

Less than 24 hours before the event the two Cadet Sergeants had been informed that the VIP they were going to meet was in fact HRH The Princess Royal and the look of excitement mixed with slight shock was hard to miss on their faces.

On the morning of the event, both Cadets arrived promptly and were briefed on their role in the day’s events by Deputy Chief Executive NW RFCA, Colonel Alex Barnes.

Before the visit began, the two Cadets had the chance to meet and talk with the Chairman of NW RFCA Colonel Nick Williams, other Board Members and the Chief Executive of the Council for RFCA (CRFCA) Major General James Gordon.

During the Royal Visit, the two Cadets were both introduced to The Princess Royal and had the opportunity to have a little talk about first aid and Cadet life, much to their delight.

All in all, both Cadets behaved impeccably throughout the day and said it was a truly memorable and wonderful day, which we are sure they will cherish in years to come.
