FIRST AID, MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS COURSES

CTC supports a number of first aid, medical and mental health awareness courses. These courses should not be attended simply to gain a first aid certificate.

Develops a CFAV’s subject knowledge to act as a Medical Support Officer or Medical Support Assistant within a County or Contingent. Specifically, this course:

  1. Re-qualifies CFAVs in Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (FAW).
  2. Provides the Level 3 Award in First Responder on Scene: Emergency Responder
  3. Provides training in advanced techniques suitable for sustained first aid treatment.
  4. Provides a formal qualification to allow Medical Support Officers and Medical Support Assistants to manage uncertainty during cadet events.

Students must be appointed as a Medical Support Officer or Medical Support Assistant to attend this course.

This course is designed to allow CFAVs to deliver the Army Cadets First Aid packages for senior cadets and adult volunteers. Specifically, this course:

  1. Provides the Level 3 Award in Education and Training qualification.
  2. Provides training in teaching methods suitable for delivering First Aid

Students must have:

  1. A current regulated Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate; this will not be renewed during the course.
  2. An intention to teach first aid to other CFAVs.

This course is designed to allow CFAVs to deliver the Army Cadets Healthy Minds (Youth) Awareness package. Specifically, this course:

  1. Provides the Army Cadets Healthy Minds “Youth Course” facilitators qualification.
  2. Provides training in teaching methods suitable for delivering mental health training.

Students must have:

  1. Resilience in the Army Cadets Course on the Defence Learning Environment 
  2. Completed the Healthy Minds (Youth) Awareness Course
