The first weekend in February saw GLSESACF joined by colleagues from Wales on the first National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) event where 10 adults undertook their Silver Award and 20 adults did the Bronze Award.
The weekend was organised by the Deputy Commandant Lt Col Simon Johnson who was assisted by SMI Vince Proto and 2Lt Alastair Maclennan. Simon actually took myself and Lt Jemima Coates to south Wales in April 2019 to do our bronze awards so this was a great chance to move up to the next level.
The weekend started on Friday night at Blackheath and on Saturday the groups headed to different location in West Kent to undertake the bronze and silver level training. Sunday was reserved for assessment and testing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and a lot of fun was had too; we were even lucky with the weather with only slight rain first thing on Sunday.
Many thanks to all involved, especially our colleagues and friends form Wales: Steve and Baz and also Matthew who joined the silver group.
