On thursday 14th May the Rt Hon John Glen MP for Salisbury visited Old Sarum Detachment.

The evening featured an inspection of our cadets conducted by our visitors, which was then followed by a drill demonstration.

Our cadets set up lessons and displays to showcase our activities during parade night. The displays featured First Aid, Fieldcraft, Navigation, and Drill.

Throughout the evening, the Rt Hon John Glen MP interacted with our cadets with sincere enthusiasm, discovering how the Army Cadets can empower them to progress in life. Regardless of whether they enlist in the military, it is often demonstrated that cadets tend to excel in whichever career path they pursue.

He said “I was delighted to meet the very impressive young cadets at Old Sarum and hear what they have been up to. It was clear to me that being a cadet builds confidence and resilience – skills that last a lifetime.” and was very impressed with the young people there and the opportunities this offered them.

At the end of the evening, two cadets eligible for promotion were promoted by the Rt Hon John Glen MP. (Not many cadets can boast about that!)

Also present were our Honorary Colonel, Lieutenant General Sir Edward Alexander Smyth-Osbourne, KCVO, CBE; Colonel Pete White, Commandant of Wiltshire ACF; and Major Carol Maison, Officer Commanding Gold Company.
