Mutley Detachment Devon Army Cadet Force has received a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions initiative. The funding will upgrade IT equipment for its 30 cadets in Plymouth.
Improving Training for Young Cadets
The grant from Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon will enable the detachment to purchase new IT equipment. As a result, training presentations will become more interactive and engaging for young people in the Mutley area.
Local Connection Behind Application
SI Steve Fry applied for the grant after working with Persimmon previously. He explained: “Having worked for Persimmon Homes Cornwall before, I knew the value of this initiative. Therefore, I was eager to apply on behalf of our detachment.”
Furthermore, he added: “This funding will allow us to buy new IT equipment for presentations and training. Consequently, our classroom sessions will become far more engaging for cadets. I’m incredibly grateful for their support.”
Community Leaders Welcome Funding
WO2 Miranda Beer serves as Detachment Commander at Mutley Detachment Devon ACF. She said: “We are a voluntary youth organisation. This very generous donation from Persimmon will make a huge difference.”
Additionally, she thanked those involved: “A big thank you to SI Steve Fry for putting our application in. We’re also grateful to Persimmon for granting it.”
Persimmon’s Commitment to Plymouth
Jane Cartwright is Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon. She commented: “Persimmon is all about leaving a lasting legacy wherever we build. Moreover, with two significant sites in Plymouth, supporting local clubs is really important to us.”
She continued: “That’s why we’re very happy to make this donation to Mutley Army Cadets. In doing so, we’re ensuring they have the equipment needed for their training. Joining the cadets is a really worthwhile choice. We hope this donation helps make it even more appealing for young people in Mutley and across Plymouth.”
