About VJ Day
VJ Day, or Victory over Japan Day, is observed on 15 August to mark the end of World War II. It commemorates the day in 1945 when Japan announced its surrender, effectively bringing the war to a close. In the UK, this date is remembered with gratitude for the sacrifices made during the conflict, especially by those who served in the Asia-Pacific region.
