Collaboration Between Army Cadets UK and Royal Gibraltar Regiment Army Cadet Force

A new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Army Cadet Force Trust (RGACF Trust) and HQ Regional Command Cadets Branch, with support from HQ British Forces Gibraltar.

This agreement aims to foster closer cooperation between the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Army Cadet Force (RGACF), improving cadet training in Gibraltar.

Enhancing Training Standards and Collaboration

The MOU sets out a framework for both organisations to collaborate on cadet training, ensuring that the RGACF aligns with the ACF’s standards. While recognising that the RGACF operates under Gibraltar law, this agreement ensures shared objectives between the two organisations, with the RGACF planning its activities in advance in collaboration with HQ British Forces Gibraltar.

Information, experience, and skills will be exchanged, allowing both sides of the agreement to benefit from shared knowledge. This cooperation will also seek to reduce costs, eliminate duplication, and create efficient working practices.

Mutual Support and Training Opportunities

Under the MOU, HQ Regional Command Cadets Branch and HQ British Forces Gibraltar will support RGACF training by providing resources and advisory visits. Annual assessments on safeguarding and governance will ensure that the RGACF continues to meet high standards. Additionally, the RGACF will have opportunities for joint training exercises with UK ACF units, including its ongoing annual exchange with ACF Manceinion Fwyaf.

Support for training will be extended to RGACF adult volunteers, offering them access to the same mandatory training as their UK counterparts. This partnership reinforces the commitment of both organisations to developing the skills and leadership of young people in Gibraltar.

This MOU marks an important step in strengthening the bonds between the ACF and RGACF, enhancing cadet training and providing long-term benefits to the cadet forces in Gibraltar.
