Chissy first joined the organisation in 1976, marking 50 years of dedication to the Cadet Forces. The Fifth Clasp represents 42 years of qualifying service as a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer, an achievement attained by only a very small number of individuals nationwide.
The presentation took place at Yardley Chase Cadet Training Centre, Northamptonshire, in the presence of friends, family, and fellow Army Cadet Force volunteers and cadets, making the occasion a truly special one. The award was presented by LNR’s Honorary Colonel, Priyesh Patel, recognising not only the length of Chissy’s service, but the commitment, professionalism, and continuity he has brought to generations of cadets.
Speaking after the presentation, Chissy said he felt “overwhelmed” by the recognition and by the support shown by those around him on the day.
The Fifth Clasp to the Cadet Force Medal is a rare distinction and reflects a remarkable level of sustained service, commitment, and personal contribution to the development of young people across decades. Chissy’s career stands as a powerful example of the values at the heart of the Army Cadet Force; service, leadership, and selfless dedication to others.
Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland ACF is immensely proud to recognise WO2 Chiswell’s service and thanks him for his incredible contribution spanning half a century.
