Our Army Cadet detachments are run by dedicated volunteers, many of whom also have full-time jobs. They usually manage cadet enquiries during parade nights alongside delivering the fun, engaging activities and training our cadets enjoy.
As our volunteers can be very busy, we recommend allowing at least a week for a response before following up. During particularly busy periods, such as in the lead-up to Summer Camps, responses may take up to two weeks.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while our volunteers give their time to support our cadets.

Unfortunately, the online Expression of Interest form cannot be submitted until your child turns 12, as the system will not accept applications before this age.
Young people must be at least 12 years old to join the Army Cadets. This is due to age requirements associated with some of the activities cadets take part in, as well as insurance and safeguarding considerations. As part of this process, the Expression of Interest form checks the applicant’s date of birth to ensure they meet the minimum age requirement.
Please do complete and submit the form on or shortly after your child’s 12th birthday. We’ll be delighted to receive their application and hopefully welcome them to the Army Cadets!

Please use the Find your Local Detachment button, enter your current postal code, and click Search; it will show all relevant detachments in your area, ordered by proximity, for your convenience.
This information shows the parade (opening) day/times, along with any other details you may need, such as whether there is a waiting list for new cadets for that detachment.

When you complete and submit the Expression of Interest online form, you will receive an automated response. This should contain a link to an Application Form, which requires more information from you. Once this is submitted, your information gets sent to the Detachment Commander and they will send you details of an appropriate appointment date and time. It could be the next parade evening or another time that is appropriate for them.
