A Weekend of Community Engagement

Ypres Company enjoyed a busy and successful weekend supporting two popular community events. On Saturday, cadets and volunteers attended the Dunfermline Gala before travelling to the Benarty Gala on Sunday.

Both events provided an excellent opportunity to engage with local communities and showcase the exciting opportunities available through the Army Cadet Force. Throughout the weekend, cadets and volunteers welcomed visitors, answered questions and spoke with young people and families interested in joining.

Showcasing the Army Cadet Force

Community engagement events are an important way to introduce families to the Army Cadet Force. Visitors discovered the wide range of activities on offer, including adventurous training, leadership, fieldcraft, first aid, music, sport and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Equally important, the events gave cadets the chance to demonstrate the confidence, teamwork and leadership skills they develop through their training. These experiences help young people grow, overcome challenges and prepare for the future.

Meeting young people interested in becoming cadets was one of the highlights of the weekend. Families also had the opportunity to speak with current cadets and adult volunteers, gaining first-hand insight into life in the Army Cadet Force.

As a result, many visitors left with a better understanding of how cadet activities help young people build confidence, develop practical skills and make lifelong friendships while serving their local communities.
