Annual Camp is the highlight of the cadet year – a week-long adventure where cadets put their training into action, challenge themselves, and build lifelong memories. From fieldcraft and battle training to leadership development and teamwork, it’s a packed programme full of opportunities.
Day 1 – Saturday 26 July
All our cadets arrived safely at camp and got straight to work settling into their accommodation and making up their beds. The day began with welcome briefings to help everyone get to know the site, meet fellow cadets, and get familiar with the layout and routines for the week ahead.
We wrapped up the day with a parade and celebrated a couple of well-deserved promotions.
Congratulations to Major Douet, appointed as County Adjutant, and Cadet RSM Sherriff, who stepped up from Cadet CSM.
It’s been a fantastic start to what’s shaping up to be an unforgettable week of challenge, learning, and teamwork.
Day 2 – Sunday 27 July
Our cadets hit the ground running on Day 2, showing excellent energy, teamwork, and determination across all training levels.

1 Star Cadets focused on Skill at Arms and covered key areas of the Army Cadet Syllabus.

2 Star Cadets continued sharpening their skills with Skill at Arms, Drill & Turnout, and time on the Dismounted Close Combat Trainer.

3 اسٹار کیڈٹس took part in Adventurous Training and Fieldcraft, building confidence and resilience in outdoor environments.

4 Star Cadets began their First Aid at Work course, developing essential lifesaving knowledge and practical skills.
A strong and productive day with real progress across the board. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings.
Day 3 – Monday 28 July
Day 3 saw cadets fully engaged across all star levels, making the most of the opportunities on offer.

1 Star Cadets took part in adventurous training activities, including paddleboarding, gorge scrambling, abseiling, rock climbing, and weaseling – an exciting and challenging day outdoors.

2 Star Cadets headed to the range for live firing practice, putting their marksmanship training into action.

3 اسٹار کیڈٹس focused on drill and navigation and completed their teach backs as part of the Junior Cadet Instructor’s Cadre.

4 Star Cadets continued building vital knowledge and confidence on the First Aid at Work course.
A day packed with learning, leadership, and adventure as cadets continue to grow in skill and confidence.
Day 4 – Tuesday 29 July
Day 4 brought another wave of development and challenge as cadets advanced through their training.

1 Star Cadets focused on Skill at Arms, with some platoons preparing for their overnight field exercise.

2 Star Cadets tackled Adventurous Training, testing their limits and building confidence in new environments.

3 اسٹار کیڈٹس continued with drill and turnout, refined their navigation skills, and began preparations for their upcoming fieldcraft phase.

4 Star Cadets successfully completed their First Aid at Work qualification – an important milestone. Well done to all.

Day 5 – Wednesday 30 July
Our cadets are making fantastic progress as the week continues, showing focus, resilience, and teamwork across all star levels.

1 Star Cadets continued sharpening their fieldcraft skills and prepared for the upcoming Field Training Exercise (FTX).

2 Star Cadets spent the day out in the field, gaining valuable experience through hands-on battle lessons.

3 اسٹار کیڈٹس pushed on with their FTX, putting classroom learning into practical action in challenging conditions.

4 Star Cadets focused on leadership development, learning how to give and receive battle orders effectively.
A strong showing from all levels, with cadets stepping up and embracing the challenges ahead.
Day 6 – Thursday 31 July
The rain didn’t hold us back – Day 6 was another day of progress, learning, and leadership development across all star levels.

1 Star Cadets completed their Field Training Exercise and spent time learning how to operate cadet radios, building essential communication skills for use in the field.

2 Star Cadets undertook a navigation exercise through the local hills and countryside, alongside further training in Communications and Information Systems (CIS).

3 اسٹار کیڈٹس brought their FTX to a close, took time to sort their kit, clean rifles, and recharge after several demanding days.

4 Star Cadets concluded their orders training and turned their focus to drill and turnout, shining boots and preparing to set the standard for smartness and leadership.
In addition, senior cadets and a number of instructors took on a thrilling abseil down a towering viaduct. It was a true test of confidence, teamwork, and trust, an unforgettable moment for all involved.
A day of consolidation and growth as we head toward the final stages of an inspiring week.
Day 7 – Friday 1 August
Commemorating Minden Day
Today’s activities began with a special tribute to Minden Day, a regimental tradition honouring the Battle of Minden (1759). Cadets and instructors marked the occasion by wearing a rose pinned to their berets – a symbol of remembrance and pride for those who fought with courage and distinction.

With that spirit in mind, the final day of camp brought a strong finish, with cadets giving their all in final assessments and taking part in parades that recognised their hard work, dedication, and development throughout the week.

1 Star Cadets completed their First Aid assessments, demonstrating the key skills they’ve developed during training.

2 Star Cadets undertook both First Aid, Drill assessments and CIS training, showcasing their growing confidence and discipline.

4 Star Cadets delivered their Drill teaching assessments, stepping up as future leaders within their detachments.
The day concluded with Battalion, Company, and cadre parades—an opportunity to celebrate progress and achievements across all levels.
Congratulations to everyone who passed their star levels, received promotions, or earned awards. It was a proud moment for cadets and instructors alike, and a fitting end to an unforgettable week.
