Cadets from our Kirkwall & Stromness recently received a visit from the Lord Lieutenant of Orkney, Elaine Grieve. The visit, which took place on Wednesday 27 May, saw the Lord Lieutenant appoint her new Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet, which went to Cadet Bombardier Marcin Wolanski (16). Bdr Wolanski has been with the Army Cadets in since March 2022 and in that time has steadily advanced through his Star Levels to achieve 2 Star and is close to completing his 3 Star.
Bdr Wolanski has also attended the Junior Cadet Instructor Cadre earlier in the year and has proved himself to be an able instructor, mentoring younger cadets through their own progression. In addition he has attended a St John’s Ambulance Youth First Aid course and the Senior Cadet Healthy Minds course, which covers Mental Health Awareness. He has recently completed his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s award. For the next 12 months Bdt Wolanski will assist the Lord Lieutenant civic duties in their capacity as His Majesty The King’s representative to the Orkney Isles.
