Cadets from C Company, Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force, recently took part in a busy and rewarding company training weekend packed with practical activities, leadership development and teamwork.
Throughout the weekend, cadets took part in a wide range of training areas designed to develop both military knowledge and transferable life skills. Activities included Junior Cadet Instructor Cadre (JCIC), First Aid, Communication and Information Systems (CIS), Skill at Arms (SAA), Drill and Senior Cadet Command Tasks.
Developing Skills Through Practical Training
The First Aid training gave cadets the opportunity to build confidence when responding to emergency situations. Cadets practised casualty care, communication and teamwork while working through a range of realistic scenarios.
During CIS training, cadets learned how to use communication equipment effectively while understanding the importance of clear and accurate information sharing in the field. Meanwhile, Skill at Arms lessons focused on safe weapon handling, marksmanship principles and weapon maintenance.
Drill sessions throughout the weekend helped cadets improve discipline, teamwork and attention to detail. Senior cadets also took part in command tasks which challenged their leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
Team Spirit in the Sunshine
With warm weather across the weekend, there was also time for cadets and CFAVs to relax together between training activities. Captain Fidment, Officer Commanding C Company, organised a barbecue for everyone attending and fully embraced the role by wearing a large chef’s hat while cooking for the cadets.
The barbecue provided a great opportunity for cadets from across the company to socialise, build friendships and enjoy the weekend atmosphere after a full day of training.
Weekends like this continue to showcase the wide range of opportunities available within the Army Cadets, helping young people develop confidence, resilience, leadership and teamwork in a supportive environment.
