About Cyprus Army Cadets
Tòisichidh an Dàn-thuras agad an seo
Cyprus Army Cadets, located at Episkopi Garrison on Western Sovereign Base Area and established in April 2017, was the first Army Cadet Force detachment located outside the United Kingdom. Since its formation, it has grown into a thriving unit with 25 cadets, increasing numbers of trained adult volunteers, and a number of enthusiastic ‘cadets in waiting’ and specialist supporters. There is now also a second detachment on the Eastern Sovereign Base Area, located at Dhekelia Station, which is seeing huge enthusiasm and growth in numbers.
Although Cyprus Army Cadets are, as expected, located in Cyprus, they are part of Gwent & Powys Army Cadet Force. It might sound a bit unusual, but it works!
The Army Cadet Force is a Voluntary Youth Organisation. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Defence and provides progressive and challenging military, adventurous and community activities for young people between the ages of 12 – 18. Its aim is to inspire young people to achieve success in life, to push them to the limit with a spirit of service to the King, their Country and their local community, and to develop in them the qualities of a good citizen – whilst having lots of FUN. The training offered helps foster self-confidence, teamwork, leadership, resilience and determination – all of which can be practically applied to everyday life.

Open to aged 12 and over, the Army Cadets welcomes young people of all backgrounds and abilities. Through a diverse and engaging programme of adventurous, educational, and community-focused activities—some with a military flavour—cadets are supported in developing physically, mentally, and socially. The Army Cadets’ experience fosters confidence, teamwork, and leadership, while also building friendships and providing fun.
Adult volunteers play a vital role in shaping the lives of cadets. No military experience is needed—just energy, dedication, and a good sense of humour. In return, instructors gain valuable skills, unforgettable experiences, and even recognised qualifications. If you’re ready to make a difference and take on a rewarding challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
