Army Cadets Excel at National First Aid Competition
On Saturday 16 November, the Army Cadets showcased their first aid expertise at the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue’s Fire Safety Centre. Teams from the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Llu Cadetiaid Cyfunol (CCF) battled it out across the Cadet and Young Adult categories to establish the top first aid teams in the UK. The day included a mix of team-based challenges and individual assessments, where communication, collaboration, and first aid skills were put to the ultimate test.
In the team test, participants navigated challenging scenarios involving simulated casualties, including injuries and illnesses. Each member also faced an individual assessment to demonstrate their ability to treat a casualty independently. The competition’s maximum High Point Score (HPS) of 320 provided the benchmark for success.
Cadet Winners – Army Cadet Force
The Cadet category results were highly competitive. ACF Dorset triumphed with an impressive 273 points, closely followed by ACF Sir Frenhinol Berkshire with 270 points. The top five teams displayed outstanding skill and teamwork, as shown below:

4. 2nd Battalion NI ACF – 255

Other teams, including ACF Glannau Merswy a ACF Hereford a Worcester, also showcased commendable efforts.
Cadet Winners – Combined Cadet Force
Corfflu Gwirfoddol y Drenewydd, Ysgol Dulwich claimed victory with 285 points in the CCF category, with Dollar Academy CCF a St Edmund’s CCF securing second and third places, respectively. The top performers are as follows:
1. Corfflu Gwirfoddol y Drenewydd, Ysgol Dulwich – 285
2. Dollar Academy CCF – 258
3. St Edmund’s CCF – 256
Young Adult Winners – Army Cadet Force
The Young Adult competition saw Durham ACF leading with 207 points, ahead of 2 Highlanders ACF and 2nd Battalion NI ACF. The results highlighted exceptional performance under pressure:
1. ACF Durham – 207
2. 2 Highlanders ACF – 171
3. 2nd Battalion NI ACF – 167
Young Adult Winners – Combined Cadet Force
Dulwich School CCF once again demonstrated their dominance, achieving 194 points to secure first place, while Dollar Academy CCF followed with 141 points.
Cystadleuaeth Rhyng-Wasanaethau
The top two teams from each category advanced to Sunday’s Inter-Services competition. This test involved a dramatic scenario: a newsagent held at gunpoint, resulting in a gunshot wound, a broken leg, and a head injury. Teams from the ACF, CCF, Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), and Police Cadets worked under pressure to treat the injured.
In the Cadet category, Dorset ACF and Dollar Academy CCF tied with 273 points, with Dorset emerging victorious due to superior individual team scores. Dulwich School CCF claimed third place with 269 points.
The Young Adult competition was equally intense. Dulwich School CCF took the top spot with 197 points, followed by Durham ACF with 192 points. Southern Area SCC made an impressive podium appearance, earning 182 points.
