Fieldcraft focus
Cadets from Suffolk ACF enjoyed an exciting and rewarding فیلڈ کرافٹ weekend, spending two days immersed in military skills, teamwork, and outdoor adventure while developing confidence and resilience in the field.
The weekend saw cadets of all experience levels challenged through a variety of practical exercises designed to build their knowledge and leadership abilities in a fun and engaging environment.
ہماری 2 ستارہ cadets spent two nights living and operating in the field, taking part in reconnaissance operations, practising break contact drills, and conducting a thrilling ambush exercise at dusk on Saturday evening. Working together under realistic conditions, the cadets demonstrated determination, communication, and problem-solving while putting their fieldcraft training into practice.
Meanwhile, our 1 Star cadets began the weekend with classroom-based preparation before heading into the field on Saturday. They learned essential harbour routines, practiced patrol techniques, and started to become familiar with the Cadet GP Rifle. For many, this was their first experience of extended field exercises, making it an exciting opportunity to build confidence while learning new military skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Fieldcraft weekends are always a highlight of the training calendar, combining adventure, challenge and plenty of fun. They provide cadets with unforgettable experiences while teaching valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, self-discipline, resilience and decision-making. Whether navigating woodland patrols, working together during tactical exercises or simply sharing experiences around the harbour area, the weekend offered memories that will stay with the cadets for years to come.
A special mention goes to our senior cadets, who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend supporting their younger peers and assisting adult instructors in delivering training. Their enthusiasm, leadership and willingness to give back to the organisation were evident throughout, and Suffolk ACF is incredibly proud of the example they continue to set.
Cadet awards
The weekend concluded with a memorable final parade, where the Cadet Company Sergeant Major (Cdt CSM) was presented with the new Company Cane. However, the honour was short-lived after a well-deserved promotion to Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major (Cdt RSM), meaning the cane was immediately passed on to the newly promoted Cdt CSM Thurtle, who stepped up from the rank of Cadet Sergeant. Congratulations go to both cadets on their well-earned promotions, which reflect their commitment, professionalism and outstanding leadership.
The Officer Commanding’s Coin for the most outstanding cadet of the weekend was presented to Cadet Bonnett in recognition of his exceptional effort and performance. Congratulations to him on this fantastic achievement.
Suffolk ACF is proud of every cadet who took part. Their enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to challenge themselves made the weekend a success.
Finally, none of these experiences would be possible without the dedication of our adult volunteers, who generously give up their own time to plan, organise and deliver weekends such as this. Their commitment ensures our cadets continue to enjoy safe, exciting and rewarding opportunities to learn new skills, make lasting friendships and have incredible adventures.
