Cadets and volunteers from 18 Troop Windsor, Berkshire Army Cadet Force, helped raise £768 at the Polo for Heroes Charity Tournament on 30 May 2026.
The event took place at Fifield Polo Club in Windsor. Despite extremely hot weather, the cadets supported the charity throughout the day. They spoke with visitors, helped with fundraising and represented the county with pride.
Supporting Polo for Heroes
Polo for Heroes raises funds to support injured servicemen and women. The charity helps provide recovery opportunities, including expeditions and equine therapy. It also supports military charities including the Household Cavalry Foundation and Irish Guards Charitable Funds.
The 18 Troop fundraising effort added a further £768 to the event total. This was a fantastic achievement from the cadets and a great example of young people making a difference.
Developing Skills Through Community Engagement
Community engagement is an important part of the Army Cadet experience.
During the event, cadets met serving personnel, veterans and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers from neighbouring counties. They developed communication skills, confidence and teamwork while supporting a worthwhile cause.
Event organisers praised the cadets for their enthusiasm, professionalism and positive attitude throughout the day.
Events like this give cadets the chance to step outside their normal training environment. They learn how to speak with the public, support local events and understand more about the wider Armed Forces community.
Join Berkshire Army Cadets
Berkshire Army Cadet Force offers young people aged 12 to 18 opportunities to develop leadership, confidence and practical life skills.
Cadets take part in activities including fieldcraft, first aid, adventurous training, sport, music and community events. These experiences help young people grow, meet new friends and achieve more than they thought possible.
Adult volunteers also play a vital role. No military experience is needed, and full training is provided.
