Inspiring Young People Through Army Cadets
We aim to provide every young person with a challenging, stimulating, and enjoyable experience in a safe and supportive environment. The Army Cadets exists to inspire and develop young people, setting them up for lifelong success with a strong sense of purpose and service, reflecting the values, standards, and ethos of the British Army.
Our Strapline:
Fun – Friendship – Belonging
Our Motto:
To Inspire to Achieve
Our mission is to enable and enhance the Cadet Experience, delivering opportunities, skills, and personal growth for young people aged 12–18, while supporting the adult volunteers who guide and mentor them.
We do this by focusing on:
Attracting and engaging young people to join and thrive in the Army Cadets.
- Providing a safe and secure training environment, underpinned by robust safeguarding practices.
- Recruiting, training, and retaining Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) who deliver a high-quality cadet experience.
- Supporting CFAVs, Cadet Training Teams (CTTs), and Cadet Training Centres (CTCs) to ensure consistent, inspiring delivery.
- Collaborating with Reserve Forces and Cadets Associations (RFCAs) to create shared value and lasting impact.
- Connecting with wider society through civil engagement and community partnerships.
- Growing and supporting the Força Combinada de Cadetes (CCF) in line with government goals for the Cadet Expansion Programme (CEP).
- Developing a sustainable training strategy, making the best use of our National and Regional Cadet Training Centres and the Defence estate.
- Communicating effectively, both within our organisation and to the public, through aligned and engaging messaging.
Army Cadets adopts and reflects the core Values and Standards of the British Army, adapted to support the development of young people:
Courage: Doing what is right, even when it’s difficult.
Discipline: Taking responsibility for your actions and staying focused on your goals.
Respect for Others: Treating everyone with fairness, kindness, and consideration.
Integrity: Being honest, trustworthy, and loyal.
Loyalty: Supporting each other and standing by your team.
Selfless Commitment: Putting the needs of others before your own, especially in service to your community.
These values are not just taught – they’re lived, day to day, by cadets and adult volunteers alike. They complement everything we do, from teamwork and training to leadership and community involvement.
