A Weekend of Teamwork, Skill and Sporting Spirit
Over the weekend of 17–19 October, the National Rugby and Archery Competitions were held at Altcar Training Camp, bringing together nine Joint Military Commands (JMCs) for an exciting showcase of sporting excellence.
Cadets enjoyed a fantastic few days of competition, camaraderie, and challenge. The rugby tournaments were filled with high-energy matches, displaying teamwork, resilience, and respect. Several outstanding players were even selected to represent the Army Cadets at the Youth Festival next year at Twickenham — a tremendous achievement and a proud moment for all involved.
Meanwhile, the archery teams demonstrated superb accuracy and concentration across two demanding events — the Warwick and the Wand. Each arrow required focus and composure, skills honed through dedication and training.

Keeping Active with the Army Cadets
Terry Hayter, SO2 Leadership & Physical Development, highlighted the importance of physical activity:
“Utrzymanie aktywności isn’t just about fitness — it’s about confidence, teamwork, and building the mindset to overcome challenges, both on and off the field.”
Through sport, cadets develop resilience, leadership, and a sense of achievement that stays with them for life.
