Cadets and Adult Volunteers Represent at National Celebration

Cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) from Oxfordshire Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Buckinghamshire ACF proudly participated in the national VE Day 80 military procession in central London. The event, commemorating the end of the Second World War in Europe, brought together military personnel, veterans, and youth organisations in a powerful display of remembrance and gratitude.

Representing their counties with pride, seven cadets from Oxfordshire ACF oraz Buckinghamshire ACF marched from Horse Guards Road to Parliament Square, where they participated in a commemorative ceremony. From there, they continued through the heart of London, joining the main procession along The Mall, passing the Queen Victoria Memorial, before returning to Horse Guards.

In addition to those marching, two cadets and one CFAV from the county were honoured to attend the flypast from within the Royal Box at the Queen Victoria Memorial.

Regimental Sergeant Major Anna Hordle, who led the group, spoke of the importance of the occasion:

“It’s a complete honour and a privilege to be able to take part in this. I think it’s vital that we remember what our veterans did and achieved, and it’s important that future generations learn from previous experiences.”

The presence of the Army Cadets at such a significant national event pays tribute to the past and inspires civic pride and responsibility among today’s youth. Oxfordshire ACF and Buckinghamshire ACF can be proud of their role in today’s commemorations.

10 Downing Street Party Celebrations

Cadets from 17 Platoon Whitley, Królewskie Hrabstwo Berkshire ACF were invited to represent the Army Cadet Force alongside veterans, service personnel, other cadets, youth and community organisations at the Number 10 street party as part of the VE80 commemorations. It was an opportunity to unite to honour the Second World War generation across the UK and the Commonwealth.

It was a great experience for Cdt Ledger, Cpl Haydon, and Cpl Gurung. The cadets had the opportunity to speak to a range of high-profile attendees, sharing their experiences from their time in the ACF and what VE80 means to them. They were even served tea and cake by the Prime Minister himself! Before leaving, they were also given a commemorative plate and mug with the words VE Day 80 written on them to remember the occasion.
