The Army Cadets are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment where young people can flourish. We are committed to ensuring your child has a positive and enriching experience whilst prioritising their safety and well-being within Army Cadet meetings and events.
We have developed the Army Cadet Safety Management System to ensure all the activities we deliver are safe and secure. This system is built on a strong safety culture, where everyone involved, including our volunteers, staff, and cadets, actively prioritise safety. We carefully assess the risk for each activity and take steps to minimise potential hazards.
This is not to say there is no risk involved in Army Cadet activities. The ਆਰਮੀ ਕੈਡੇਟ ਸਿਲੇਬਸ is based on challenging training to give our cadets a broad range of life skills including self-discipline, resilience, teamwork and leadership. Our activities are carefully chosen to enhance these skills, and we take steps to ensure that they are as safe as we can make them. Our adult volunteers receive comprehensive training and maintain the relevant qualifications for the activities they supervise.
How the Army Cadets keep your child safe
The Army Cadets take a multi-layered approach to ensure the safety of your child:
- Robust safety management: We carefully plan and execute every activity with safety in mind.
- Clear roles and responsibilities: Everyone knows their part in maintaining a safe environment.
- Supervision: We maintain appropriate supervision ratios at all times.
- Training and competence: Our adult volunteers are trained and qualified to keep your child safe.
- Safe locations: All activities are conducted in suitable and safe environments.
- Professional support: Training Safety Advisors are assigned to each unit to ensure a safety system if training is in place.
The Army Cadet Safety Management System has clear procedures for reporting and investigating any incidents, so we can learn and improve. We also value open communication with parents and keep you informed about our safety measures.
How the Cadets Branch support Cadets
The team at Cadets Branch is responsible for the safety of personnel, equipment, and facilities. They provide assurance activities and support for the Army Cadets and our safety policy, processes and procedures. This allows us to regularly review and improve our:
- Safety policies, processes and procedures which our cadets, staff and volunteers are to follow.
- Safety and safeguarding training.
- Guidance and rules for managing, identifying, and communicating risks.
- Ways of supporting those with concerns about a cadet or volunteer.
