AC Ready
Cadets from A Company recently took part in the exciting ‘AC Ready’ expedition, giving them the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and put their ਆਰਮੀ ਕੈਡੇਟ ਸਿਲੇਬਸ training into practice ahead of this year’s Annual Camp.
The weekend provided a fantastic chance for cadets to experience a range of ਫੀਲਡਕ੍ਰਾਫਟ activities, with training designed to support cadets from the basics through to 3 Star level. Across the weekend, cadets took part in activities including holding sentry positions, patrolling and carrying out reconnaissance tasks, giving them a real taste of the skills used by soldiers.
With cadets rotating through different activities throughout the weekend, everyone had the opportunity to learn something new, work as part of a team and develop their leadership and communication skills. These are valuable life skills that cadets can carry with them both inside and outside of the Army Cadet Force.
For some of the younger cadets, the weekend was also an opportunity to begin developing their military skills, with basic drill and turnout training taking place. These sessions are an important part of the Army Cadet experience, helping cadets to build discipline, confidence and pride in themselves and their achievements.
Skill At Arms
Alongside the AC Ready expedition, a county shooting weekend was also held, giving senior cadets from across Suffolk the chance to complete training towards their 3 Star shooting qualification. The weekend helped cadets gain valuable experience, improve their skills and work towards achieving the next stage of their Army Cadet journey.
A highlight of the weekend was seeing adult volunteer PI Pask promoted to Sergeant. Promotions like this recognise the dedication, commitment and hard work of the volunteers who give their time to support young people across Suffolk. Cadets were also recognised for their hard work and dedication. Cdt Eagle was among those awarded a promotion, demonstrating that the commitment and effort of cadets pays off.
As well as the awards, Maj Scott handed over the A Company commander role to Capt Mildren who will be taking the company forward into their next chapter. A huge thank you goes to Maj Scott for his hard work as OC from all at Suffolk ACF, and all the best to Capt Mildren in his new role.
Cadet training
Training weekends such as these show what makes the Army Cadet experience so unique. For just £14, cadets can take part in affordable, exciting activities that get them outdoors, introduce them to new challenges and help them make friends while learning skills for life.
Whether it is fieldcraft, shooting, drill, adventure training or simply being part of a team, there is something for everyone within Suffolk ACF. The opportunities available help young people grow in confidence, discover new interests and challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
Well done to all cadets who took part in the weekend’s activities and thanks as always to our adult volunteers who dedicate their time to make these experiences possible.
