Armed Forces Day Lauriston

Members of the Black Watch Battalion Pipes and Drums proudly supported the Armed Forces Day Parade at Lauriston, with Cadet Drum Major Kirsten Lowther leading the parade.

Black Watch Cadets Support Armed Forces Day Parade at Lauriston

Members of the Black Watch Battalion Pipes and Drums Detachment were proud to support the Armed Forces Day Parade at Lauriston, joining Pipers and Drummers from other Army Cadet Force units for a memorable day of recognition, remembrance and celebration.

The parade brought together members of the Armed Forces community, cadets and local residents. Importantly, it provided an opportunity for the community to show its appreciation for those who have served and those who continue to serve.

Leading the Parade

A particular highlight was the role played by Cadet Drum Major Kirsten Lowther, who proudly led the parade.

With confidence, discipline and precision, Kirsten demonstrated the leadership skills developed through her involvement with the Pipes and Drums. Furthermore, her role highlighted the opportunities cadets have to develop their confidence, take on responsibility and represent their Battalion at important events.

Recognising Service and Sacrifice

Armed Forces Day is a national opportunity to recognise and celebrate the dedication, courage and service of the UK Armed Forces, both past and present.

It is also a chance for communities to say thank you to serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and their families for the contribution they make.

For the Battalion, supporting the Armed Forces Day Parade at Lauriston was therefore about more than music. It was an opportunity for our cadets to play their part in a national day of recognition while proudly representing the Army Cadet Force within the local community.

Developing Skills Through Music

ਦ Pipes and Drums Detachment gives cadets the opportunity to develop musical ability while also building valuable life skills.

Through regular training and performances, cadets develop teamwork, discipline, confidence, commitment and leadership. In addition, taking part in parades and ceremonial occasions allows them to put those skills into practice in front of the public.

Proud to Play Our Part

The Black Watch Battalion is proud of the contribution made by its Pipes and Drums Detachment and the cadets who represent the organisation at community and ceremonial events.
