The national charity of the Army Cadets and for over 90 years ACCT UK has been supporting young people to thrive and succeed through the Army Cadets and aims to give all young people the opportunity to develop and achieve through Army Cadets activities.  The charity helps coordinate training for the non-military aspects of the Army Cadets syllabus, such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Adventurous Training, Music, First Aid and sport and also help deliver top-quality courses for the organisation Adult Volunteers in all these areas to help deliver the training back to their cadets.

The cadets of Elgin were presented with their Cadet Challenge Trophy by ACCT UK Trustee Joyce Quin as part of a Parent’s Open evening held at the Detachment on Wednesday 3 June, where the cadets of the Detachment put on a display of some of the training and skills that they learn, such as First Aid.

The cadets raised a total of £837.30 for ACCT UK throughout 2025 from a range of fundraising activities, from Quiz Nights, Raffles at Community Events and even an extreme challenge, which saw LCpl Mollie Robinson (14) jump off the Highland Swing Bridge, near Pitlochry, and raise £426.25 towards the Detachment’s overall total.

The 2025 Cadet Challenge Trophy has not marked the end of their fundraising, the Detachment are already making good progress with their 2026 fundraising having raised £724.70 for this year’s challenge.

The presentation of the trophy was made to Warrant Officer Class 2 Graeme Wells (34), who was the Detachment Commander at the time and organised most of the fundraising activities, alongside LCpl Robinson and CSgt Florence Wareing (17), who has raised £640 for this year’s fundraising from a 600 mile sponsored cycle. The detachment were praised for their approach to fundraising at every opportunity, on the night there was a tea and coffee stand which raised £50.45 through donations, showing that small, simple ideas can add real value to fundraising efforts.
