From 14th to 16th February 2025, cadets from No 2 (Kohima) Company took part in a weekend training camp at Holcombe Moor Training Centre. The camp focused on Skill at Arms and Fieldcraft training, with assessments conducted across all star levels to develop cadets proficiency in weapon handling, marksmanship, and tactical fieldcraft.
Cadets engaged in structured training sessions covering key skills such as weapon safety, shooting techniques, camouflage and concealment, patrolling, and defensive positions. These sessions provided valuable experience, ensuring cadets met the required standards for their star levels.
In addition to the core training, cadets had the opportunity to participate in archery, a challenging yet enjoyable activity that helped develop their focus, accuracy and control.
The weekend not only enhanced the cadets skills but also encouraged teamwork and confidence in a demanding yet rewarding training environment.
A significant moment of the weekend was the introduction of the new Company Commander, Captain Paul Anderton, who recently took command of No 2 (Kohima) Company. He conducted promotions during the camp, recognising cadets’ achievements and leadership qualities. Major Martin Davies, the outgoing Company Commander who has now taken command of No 1 (Minden) Company, was also in attendance. He took the opportunity to introduce cadets to their new company commander and express his gratitude to the cadets and staff for their dedication and teamwork.
Additionally, Captain Jordan Battye, the Company Training Officer, joined Captain Paul Anderton in interviewing the two senior cadets for the role of Cadet Company Sergeant Major. This was awarded to Cadet CSM Ionescu. A huge well done!
The weekend camp was a valuable opportunity for cadets to develop their skills.
