Held each May and organised by the Combined Cavalry Old Comrades Association, the parade brings together cavalrymen past and present to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in service. It remains a key moment in the cavalry calendar, reinforcing both heritage and the enduring esprit de corps of the mounted arm.

F Squadron cadets marched alongside representatives of Regular Army cavalry regiments, reservists, veterans, and fellow Army Cadet Force contingents with cavalry affiliations. The parade provided a unique opportunity for cadets to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with serving and former soldiers, gaining a deeper appreciation of the traditions and sacrifices associated with the cavalry.

This year’s parade was inspected by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh. The role of Inspecting Officer reflects the event’s national significance, with previous years seeing senior members of the Royal Family, including the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of Kent, and the Princess Royal, undertake the duty.

Throughout the weekend, the cadets demonstrated a high standard of discipline, turnout, and professionalism, drawing praise from their leadership.

Sergeant Williamson of F Squadron said:

“Throughout the entire weekend, the cadets have represented both themselves and F Squadron exceptionally well.

“Their behaviour, turnout, and professionalism have been outstanding, and they should all be extremely proud of the way they have conducted themselves. They are a real credit to their squadron.”

Beyond the parade itself, the visit to London proved to be a memorable experience for all involved. Cadets had the opportunity to take in some of the capital’s most iconic locations, including a visit to 10 Downing Street—an experience that added further significance to an already remarkable weekend.

The event not only strengthened the cadets’ connection to the wider cavalry community but also provided a lasting reminder of the values of service, respect, and remembrance that underpin the Army Cadet Force.
