Lord-Lieutenants’ Cadet
𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲’𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝-𝐋𝐢𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬’ 𝐂𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐭
For cadets, this entails a year-long role as His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenants’ Cadet, accompanying the Lord Lieutenant with various responsibilities throughout Wiltshire as the royal family’s representative for the region. This position often includes the opportunity to meet members of the royal family on numerous occasions.
অভিনন্দন Cdt Sgt Maj Sebastian Beggan, This year’s newly appointed Lord Lieutenant Cadet, who said “As the newly appointed Lord Lieutenant Cadet, I am eager to meet members of the royal family and represent the county, as well as the cadet forces, at many other events.”
The outgoing Lord Lieutenant’s cadet, Cdt Sergeant Major Daisy Edmonds, stated,
Over this year I have had the pleasure of attending lots of events from carol services to VE Day celebrations where I have had the chance to meet many interesting people. I was also lucky enough to attend two royal visits getting to salute on the Lord Lieutenant’s behalf and meet Queen Camilla.
One of my favorite events this year was my first Remembrance Day parade in Swindon, where I supported Deputy Lieutenant Shirley Ludford and honored those who served. After the parade, I enjoyed tea at the pilgrim center, meeting various individuals, including NHS representatives, the Mayor, and veterans. They appreciated hearing my perspective and realized that the media often misrepresents the younger generation. This experience filled me with pride and inspired me to uphold this positive image at future events and in my daily life.
Since attending events, I’ve received similar feedback, highlighting our role as Lord Lieutenant cadets. We are selected by our CFAVs for embodying good cadet and societal values, and it’s important that we represent ourselves well to everyone we meet.
This time last year, I found myself in the shoes of the new Lord Lieutenant’s cadets, serving as a Cdt Corporal and feeling quite nervous about what the role would entail. Today, I stand before you as I prepare to hand over my position as a Cdt Sergeant Major, having grown immensely in confidence. To the new cadets, I encourage you to truly embrace this experience. Make the most of every moment, as each will bring its own excitement and opportunities. There’s absolutely nothing to be anxious about. This is a fantastic chance to connect with individuals you might not have met otherwise. Wear your uniforms with pride and embody the values of being a Lord Lieutenant cadet and a cadet in general. Be that friendly face that inspires hope for the future.
I sincerely wish the new cadets a year as rewarding as mine has been.
