Cadet Force Adult Volunteers at CTC Frimley Park were delighted to receive delivery of brand new Cadet Scorpion Air Rifles presented by Major General David Eastman MBE recently. Whilst on hand to deliver the new rifles General Eastman also took to the indoor range to test out the equipment which will be available at all Contingents and Detachments by the end of 2021.
Committed to delivering the best Cadet experience across the UK, In January 2020 Cadets Branch HQ were directed by the current DComd to produce the uplift requirement to procure Cadet Scorpion Air Rifles and Cadet Air Rifle Indoor Target Screens to allow the capability of Air Rifle shooting at Contingent and Detachment level throughout the Cadet Force Community.
The current in-service fleet of Cadet Scorpion Air Rifles was 3,030 and the uplift required to achieve this capability was 4,950 Cadet Scorpion Air Rifles.
Using Nottinghamshire ACF’s prototype, a newly designed Indoor Target Screen complying with the regulations has also been developed to accompany the Cadet Scorpion Air Rifles. The new Cadet Air Rifle Target Screens consist of a small lightweight Target Screen that allows set up by one individual with ease and storage within it’s own carry case that is not an burden of space within any setting.
From late April through to December 2021, the new Cadet Scorpion Air Rifles and Cadet Air Rifle Indoor Target Screens will be delivered to all Contingents and Detachments across the UK.
We hope you all enjoy using the new equipment as we return to face-to-face Cadet Training.
