SKILL AT ARMS (SAA) INSTRUCTOR COURSE

The aim of this course is to produce CFAVs Skill at Arms (SAA) Instructors. Training and revision will also be conducted in the Core Values and Standards, leadership and management examples and CFAV responsibility guidelines.

Successful completion of the course qualifies CFAVs as Cadet Force SAA Instructors. 

  • This qualification allows training and assessment of any Cadet Force weapon system that the instructor has had training on and holds an in-date weapon handling test (WHT).
  • For Sergeant Instructors (SIs), passing the course also meets the requirements for promotion to Staff Sergeant Instructor (SSI). 

This course is open to both the CCF and ACF. Candidates must have attended Adult  Induction (qualifying) courses.

Requirements for attending the Skill at Arms Instructor Course

To be eligible for the course, candidates must:

  • Have formally participated in Rifle Lessons 1–9.
  • Hold a current Weapon Handling Test (WHT) on the L98A2 Cadet GP Rifle.

Recommended Preparation for the SAA Instructor Course

يوصى بأن يقوم الطلاب أيضاً بما يلي قبل حضور الدورة التدريبية:

  • Watch another SAA Instructor teach lessons 1-9.
  • Rehearse SAA lessons under the supervision of a qualified SAAI (“students” must already have received the instruction from a qualified SAAI).
  • Students should be familiar with the Cadet Training Skill at Arms Pamphlet Cadet Rifle GP and have a good knowledge of named parts and characteristics to support an arrival basic knowledge assessment.
  • Attend a pre-course for SAAI. Programme for a pre-course is sent out annually to JMCs.
