Captain Peter Kinsey is the new Officer Commanding No.2 (Cromwell) Company, having resumed the role he held ten years previously.
Captain Kinsey brings considerable experience to the role, having joined at as a cadet at Comberton Detachment in 1985. He was a high achiever, finishing with the rank of Cdt Sgt Major. He said: “the training was really good, the people were really good, it set me up for adult life and work.”
After a short break, he rejoined Cambs ACF as an Adult Instructor, and once again rose through the ranks, becoming our most senior Non-Commissioned Officer, Regimental Sergeant Major. After becoming Commissioned, he served as County Training Officer and 2IC of 3 Company, before reluctantly leaving ten years ago due to work commitments.
Captain Kinsey has a lifelong interest in CIS (Signals) and is keen to help encourage cadets with an interest in the subject. His extensive CIS experience includes a period as Parent Staff Signals Instructor for Cambridge University Officer Training Corps.
He said: “having been reluctant to leave, and now that my circumstances have changed, I felt it was a really exciting opportunity to come back. I’m looking forward to working with my team and taking the Company in new directions”
“I want to develop No.2 Company to be the best in the County. I want our next Coy training weekend to generate excitement in the Company. My priority is to encourage training, with the adults, to help career progress, so that people can assume the next role, and with cadets, making sure they have the relevant training to progress.”
