First Aid, Medical and Mental Health Awareness Courses

CTC supports a number of first aid, medical and mental health awareness courses. These courses should not be attended simply to gain a first aid certificate.

CCF/ACF First Aid Trainer Development Course

Develops a CFAVs subject knowledge to act as a Medical Support Officer or Medical Support Assistant within a County or Contingent. Specifically this course:

  • Re-qualifies CFAVs in Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (FAW).
  • Provides the Level 3 Award in First Responder on Scene: Emergency Responder
  • Provides training in advanced techniques suitable for sustained first aid treatment.
  • Provides a formal qualification to allow Medical Support Officers and Medical Support Assistants to manage uncertainty during cadet events.

Students must be appointed as a Medical Support Officer or Medical Support Assistant to attend this course.

CCF/ACF First Aid Teaching Certificate Course

This course is designed to allow CFAVs to deliver the Army Cadets First Aid packages for senior cadets and adult volunteers. Specifically this course:

  • Provides the Level 3 Award in Education and Training qualification.
  • Provides training in teaching methods suitable for delivering First Aid

Students must have:

  • A current regulated Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate; this will not be renewed during the course
  • An intention to teach first aid to other CFAVs.

CCF/ACF Healthy Minds Facilitator Course

This course is designed to allow CFAVs to deliver the Army Cadets Healthy Minds (Youth) Awareness package. Specifically this course:

  • Provides the Army Cadets Healthy Minds "Youth Course" facilitators qualification.
  • Provides training in teaching methods suitable for delivering mental health training

Students must have:

  • Resilience in the Army Cadets Course on the Defence Learning Environment
  • Completed the Healthy Minds (Youth) Awareness Course
