A week of physical challenges, mental resilience and new friendships has provided an unforgettable experience for Cadet Sergeant Major Ella Underhill from Wrexham Detachment, who has successfully completed the prestigious Master Cadet Course at Frimley Park Cadet Training Centre.
The demanding course brought together talented cadets from Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Combined Cadet Force (CCF) units from across the UK, providing an opportunity to test their leadership, determination and military skills in a challenging environment.
Throughout the week, cadets were pushed to their limits, both physically and mentally. From the gruelling stretcher race and obstacle course to an intensive four-day field exercise, every activity demanded commitment, resilience and, above all, effective teamwork.
One of the standout moments was the final platoon-level attack, which gave cadets the opportunity to put their newly developed skills and knowledge into practice, demonstrating the confidence, coordination and leadership they had built throughout the course. The week concluded with a final parade before the successful candidates headed home, proud of what they had achieved.
But the course was about much more than physical challenges and military skills. One of the most rewarding aspects was the opportunity to meet and work alongside cadets from across the country, sharing experiences, learning from one another and forming friendships that would otherwise never have happened.
Reflecting on the experience, the Ella said:
“Completing the Master Cadet Course is a huge achievement for me, and I am incredibly proud to have been given the opportunity. It challenged me in ways I didn’t expect and helped me develop my confidence, resilience and teamwork.
“The friendships and memories I made throughout the week made the whole experience even more special. It was an unforgettable week filled with challenges, learning and new friendships, and an experience I will always look back on with pride.
“I would encourage any cadet who gets the opportunity to attend to take it with both hands.”
Successfully completing the Master Cadet Course is a significant personal achievement and a testament to the cadet’s hard work, commitment and determination.
Congratulations on a fantastic achievement! Your success reflects the very best of the Army Cadet experience – embracing challenges, pushing personal boundaries and making the most of every opportunity.
