The Commandant, for the last few months since his appointment, has been getting around the Detachments and Companies of the Battalion to meet and interact with the cadets and adult instructors of the Battalion. These meetings are largely informal and often in the form of relaxed Q&A sessions. This has also provided him with the opportunity to present some of the Battalion\u2019s adults with their King\u2019s Coronation Medal.<\/p>\n
The start of February saw just such an opportunity to issue some of the Coronation medals when Col. Martin was visiting Orkney. He was able to present 6 Coronation Medals to the adult instructor living on Orkney; not only Capt. Browne, BSM Coltherd, and SMI Robertson, all of Orkney and Shetland Battery, but also HQ staff, Majors Barton and Durrand, and SMI Wilson.<\/p>\n

Some of the Battalion\u2019s adults though also qualified through other routes. SMI Eric Mills of Nairn Detachment has been an adult instructor with the ACF for over 17 years and certainly qualified for his medal but also qualified as a Standard Bearer for the Royal British Legion attending the Coronation.<\/p>\n
100 Standard Bearers who provided a Guard of Honour, during the Coronation, lining the street near the church were awarded the Coronation Medal, and SMI Mills was one of those given that honour.<\/p>\n
