Chelmsford Detachment has proudly claimed top honours in the 2024 Royal Signals Best Cadet Detachment competition, earning high praise for their exceptional contributions to cadet development and their local community.<\/p>\n
Led by Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Instructor Jacob Berry<\/strong>, the Chelmsford Detachment was unanimously selected by the judging panel for submitting the most impressive record of activities over the past year. Their achievements not only showcased consistent dedication to the cadets’ training and personal growth but also reflected their strong engagement with the wider community.<\/p>\n Colonel Emma Bruce<\/strong> of the Royal Signals commended the team\u2019s submission, remarking, \u201cThere were some truly exceptional achievements in the submission, very well done indeed.\u201d<\/p>\n For their outstanding performance, Chelmsford Detachment was awarded the prestigious \u2018Jimmy\u2019 plaque and the honour of receiving a new Royal Signals Standard. The ceremonial changing of the standard was marked by the presence of W<\/strong>O1 Reggie Cullumbine<\/strong>, the Royal Signals Senior Reserve Warrant Officer, alongside two members of 907 Troop, 36 Essex Yeomanry Squadron (the local Royal Signals Reserve unit). <\/p>\n WO1 Cullumbine, who served as the soldier representative on the five-member judging pane, alongside four senior officers from Blandford, personally presented the new Standard to the detachment. Reflecting on the competition, she noted, \u201cAll the entries were really impressive, but the Chelmsford Detachment definitely stood out.\u201d<\/p>\n She went on to highlight that their success was not just about output, but ethos: \u201cIt\u2019s for the instructors that give up their time, their energy, and their passion to get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n Chelmsford\u2019s story stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when dedicated leadership and enthusiastic cadets come together in pursuit of excellence.
