Cadet Sergeant (Cdt Sgt) Piper Noble from Rossington Detachment has hit the ground running in her new role as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet. Despite only being appointed very recently she has already been called upon for Royal duties twice.<\/p>\n

Yesterday she met King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla during their visit to Doncaster. Cdt Sgt Noble met the King as he arrived in Doncaster to officially proclaim it a city, a status awarded as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations earlier in the year. Cdt Sgt was at the event accompanying Professor Dame Hilary Chapman DBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire. As a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet Piper will accompany the Lord Lieutenant at events throughout the year of her appointment. <\/p>\n

Despite the short time in her role this was not the first time the has been involved in a Royal visit; Last week she accompanied the Lord lieutenant when the Countess of Wessex visited Chapeltown near Sheffield to present the British Empire Medal (BEM) to Tobias Weller<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Detachment Commander SI Shaun Clarke said “We are so proud of her, as is the village of Rossington. I am so proud of her what she as achieved it’s her last year but she hopes she can come back as a adult instructor”<\/p>\n

Appointment as Lord Lieutenant’s cadet is an honour bestowed on one cadet from each of the cadet forces in the region. To be eligible cadets must reside in the area, and have a year of remaining service. Only one cadet from the county can be chosen in each area so competition is fierce. Our county nominates cadets for this role in three Lieutenancies; South Yorkshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. The chosen cadets are appointed at a ceremony each year and are in post for a period of one year.
