WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON?

This week has been bittersweet in Cadets Branch. On Friday we said goodbye to Brigadier Mark Christie, OBE who leaves us after 18 months with the Army Cadets. For those of you who have been fortunate enough to work with or meet him, you’ll know what an awesome individual and leader he is. Brigadier Mark, always has time for a chat, whether that’s about Army Cadet issues, or one of his favourite bands – the Jam. We wish him well as he prepares to transition from the Army to civilian life with his wife Clair and family.

Brigadier Mark, doesn’t leave us in the lurch however. Most of you will already know that his post will be taken over by Colonel Stuart Williams OBE, who like Brigadier Mark is an inspirational leader and a passionate advocate of the Army Cadets. We hope you join us in wishing both Brigadier Mark and Colonel Stuart all the best for the coming months and years.

Monopoly fever

In April we launched a writing competition asking our cadets to tell us why they thought their detachment was the best in the Army Cadets to win a money can't buy prize. After receiving over 700 entries, our judging panel whittled it down to the top four and each winning Cadet will receive hot-off-the press boxes of Monopoly: Army Cadets Edition. What makes this even more special, however, is that the four train stations on the board have been named after the detachments of our four competition winners. Army Cadet Digi-magazine – August edition out now!

The latest edition of the Army Cadet digital magazine is now available for you to read. It’s packed full of fantastic features including Phil Campion’s top Survival Skills, news from around the country and of course the ever popular Stay Lively in Lockdown ideas. Happy reading!

Summer fun

Well it’s officially the start of the summer holidays and you can certainly see that in some of the awesome posts we’ve been sharing, both here and on our social media channels. Many posts are “virtual camp orientated” and it’s great to see just how resilient all our Cadets and fabulous CFAV’s are, that you can adapt to the current situation so well.

Virtual ACF

These feet were made for walking…

Cadets and CFAV’s from Northfield Gardens Detachment have completed a virtual walk to annual camp, that’s 62 miles! Well done team.

Master Cadet success

Northumbria ACF are celebrating their 1^st Master Cadets. Congratulations to Cdt RSM Easton and Cdt SSgt Marchant

International Friendship Day

Covid-19 hasn’t prevented the team at Regimental Band, Black Watch ACF, from having some fun. Infact, it has meant that they have made some great new friends from across the globe – how awesome is that!

Turning the tables

Day Three of Ballygowan Detachment 2^nd (NI) Bn ACF’s virtual camp, saw Senior Cadets plan and deliver the training and by the looks of it, they produced some pretty cool lessons. Really innovative guys, well done!
