Frimley RSM raises awareness of mental health

WO1 (RSM) David Lightfoot is perhaps better known for being the RSM at the Cadet Training Centre Frimley Park, but this week he is taking on a challenge to raise awareness of mental health.

The challenge will see him handcuffed to a medicine ball, weighing around 10kg, whilst trying to live his life as normally as possible.

The medicine ball represents the weight, and burden, some service personnel and veterans carry around with them every day due to mental health problems. Many feel that they can’t talk because of the stigma surrounding mental health problems such as Stress, Anxiety, PTSD, and Depression.

WO1 (RSM) Lightfoot says "mental health is a huge topic in both the military and civilian world. By taking part in this fantastic challenge, I hope it highlights that it is OK to talk about mental health and shows that anyone can be affected by it."

The challenge is also raising funds for both Combat Stress and ABF The Soldiers' Charity. For more information and to donate please visit https://uk.virginmoneygiving.c...
