The Army Cadets have played a key role in the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla, with a strong presence in the procession. The Army Cadet Force and Combined Cadet Force were represented by Staff Cadet RSM Siggers from Kent Army Cadet Force and Cadet RSM Watson from St Columbas College CCF, who were selected to be banner bearers for the event.
Army Cadets by royal appointment
The Army Cadets have played a key role in the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla, with a strong presence in the parade and ceremony.
The two banner bearers were joined by 35 cadets from the Duke of York's Royal Military School CCF Band, who led the cadet and Royal British Legion banners on parade and across Westminster Bridge. The cadets looked impressive in their smart uniforms as they marched in perfect formation through the streets of London, to the delight of the crowds.
For Staff Cadet RSM Siggers and Cadet RSM Watson, the opportunity to be banner bearers was an incredible honor. They had been chosen from among the very best cadets in the Army Cadet Force and Combined Cadet Force, and were thrilled to represent their organisations on such an important occasion, both selected from their victory in the Champion Cadet Competition held at CTC Frimley Park in April.
"The coronation is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and to be chosen to play a part in it is a dream come true," said Staff Cadet RSM Siggers. "I'm incredibly proud to be here today, representing the Army Cadet Force and doing my part to help make this a memorable day for everyone involved."
Cadet RSM Watson echoed those sentiments, saying that he was proud to be representing the Combined Cadet Force and was excited to be a part of history. "It's an incredible honour to be here today, and I'm thrilled to be able to represent my organisation on this special occasion," he said.
The cadets from the Duke of York's Royal Military School CCF Band also felt privileged to be a part of the coronation. They had spent months preparing for the event, and were excited to be able to show off their skills and represent their school in front of a global audience.
The Army Cadets have a long and proud history, and their involvement in the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla is just one more example of the special events and occasions they get invited to attend.
