His entry in the competition featured two cadets using a fire hose whilst on a visit to their local fire station last February as part of their Cadet in the Community Syllabus.
“It was just a quick snap with my phone as the cadets took turns in working together on the hoses, the light and water spray just all came together. I’m really surprised and pleased it has won such an accolade”
Adding: “To be honest, I was gobsmacked to get an email telling me I’d made the top 12 and would be featured in the 2020 Calendar and even more surprised when I got the letter and prize delivered telling me I’d come second.”
The judging panel for the competition was made up of writer, broadcaster and actor, Gyles Brandreth; BBC R2’s Drivetime show host, Sara Cox; member of the British Army’s Ice Maiden team in 2018, Major Sandy Hennis; double Olympic Medallist Col Dame Kelly Holmes; host of Afternoon Live on BBC, Simon McCoy and TV presenter and creator of the History Hit Network and TV streaming channel, Dan Snow.
