I quite enjoyed this one, despite the raindrops on the camera lens, it gave a good overview of life in the ACF. Lauren
Pros: Gets across 'action and adventure' and makes the activities look exciting. I liked the rain on the lens footage as it emphasised the outdoor nature of the activities.
Cons: Copyright music. A few captions might help explain what's happening. Some small sections of iphone footage (vertical) but they were brief and well integrated with the other footage. Valerie
WCM - Pros: Lively and mostly (see cons) well paced. Really gave a sense of adventure, the great outdoors, and being part of something exciting. Nice use of a lot of different content sources. Tried to use some interesting editing techniques. Not afraid to source content from other places to improve the film.
WCM - Cons: Lingered on some of the content for too long (e.g. raindrop shot which was really nice shot and idea, but needed to be use sparingly). Could do with a lot of tightening up (less lingering on shots) to make it a good film. Could have done with more captions (or other technique) to give it a sense of narrative.
Valerie - great pace and nice storytelling. Nice mix of ACF stock images and local photos. Some of the captions don't show up well on my screen and the music needs to be checked to see if it's copyright free.
Lauren - Creative and well thought out. The images appear quite grainy and pixelated, perhaps they could have been resized to fit the screen better.
WCM - Pros: Lovely idea. Very good pace and narrative structure. Good content mix and well edited (see cons). Great Call to Action. Strong, motivatonal and inspirational film.
WCM - Cons: Some of the content is not dealt with perfectly (e.g. images, where used, have often been cropped wrong and aren't of high enough resolution for this film).
Pros: Nice lively opening and captioning. Nice mix of faces and voices and shows some activities in the detachment. Good pace / mix of footage. They kept it brief and added a nice bit of comedy at the end. Valerie
WCM - Pros: Lively film. Fun. Very good use of mix of content types (filmed video, photos, captions). Clever use of repetition (sitting down shots). Has clear narrative and provides an overview of the detachment.
WCM - Cons: Not many! Ends abruptly, but we think that was the point!
Quite a nice overview of 'life at a detachment' - Lauren
Pros: Plenty of thought and effort has goine into this one. Good pace. Nice variety of shots and shows some imaginative editing. Clear and helpful captioning. Unlikely to be music copyright issues. Cadets look happy. Nice closing shot. Valerie
WCM - Pros: Really nice film. Has pace, narrative structure and is very infomational. Doesn't try to do too much but is effective at getting a clear message across. Very clever editing and use of graphics. Nice ending.
WCM - Cons: Could possibly have had a section (maybe 2/3 of way through) and used an interview, or some real audio, to add a bit more of a human element to it. But works as it is!
