Success at the CVQO Westminster Awards

Last Thursday saw Ex Cadet Sergeant Dubinskaite, of Middlesex and North West London ACF, be awarded the 2019 CVQO Westminster Award.

She was presented with the famous silver lion, and joined a very special group of people, by becoming the seventeenth name to be etched on the award in the House of Lords.

The CVQO Westminster Award is an annual competition designed to recognise and reward the most deserving of CVQO's learners.

CVQO Chief Executive Guy Horridge said “Today there are winners who have overcome personal challenges, challenges at school and challenges in the cadets, but what they all have in common is not only have they successfully faced these challenges but they have never used them as an excuse or expected special treatment because of it.

The 10 finalists included Cadet CSM Edwards (Shropshire ACF), Ruta Dubinskaite, Cadet CSM Grizzle (City of London and NE Sector ACF), Maj Gen Duncan Capps, Brig Mark Christie, Joe Evenden (Loughborough Grammar School CCF) and Cadet Cpl Baljodh Singh (Holly Lodge CCF)

The 10 finalists will now have a little downtime before preparing to leave for South Africa on 9 July for their two-week expedition.
