Gloucestershire ACF cadets have won The Revision Military Eyewear Challenge for the second consecutive year for their outstanding fundraising for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
On 13th June Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major Francis Moloney and The Lord Lieutenants’ Cadet Sergeant Jody Motterham received the award on behalf of Gloucestershire ACF at a special reception held at Wellington Barracks, London. The prestigious trophy was presented by General Sir Mike Jackson GCB CBE DSO DL. Impressed by the cadets’ achievement General Sir Mike Jackson said, “I am astounded at the commitment and dedication these young cadets have shown to raise money for such an esteemed charity that supports the men and women and families who have selflessly laid their lives on the line to defend and serve our country.”
The cadets worked tirelessly doing collections and bag packing in supermarkets across the county to raise over £16,000, the largest sum of money collected by an ACF county for ABF The Soldiers' Charity during the 2012 challenge. Colonel Lance Ranson TD Commandant of Gloucestershire ACF said: “ It’s an honour and a privilege to receive the Revision Eyewear Challenge Trophy not just once but two years in a row!”
The 2013 Revision Military Eyewear Challenge has already started and is open to every cadet detachment across the UK to encourage cadets to help former soldiers and their families who are in need. To win, either raise the most amount of money or come up with the most innovative idea to raise money that will inspire others to follow your lead.
