North East Region win ACF National Athletics Competition

13 June 2012

On Saturday 9th June cadets gathered at Grantham in Lincolnshire for the ACF National Athletics Competition. Teams travelled from 8 regions across the UK to take part in this annual ACF sporting event. Cadets ran, jumped and threw with such enthusiasm and stamina competing for the winning trophy.

The North East team scooped first place as overall winners depsite not winning any of the individual classes. Eastern were only slightly behind securing second place. Scotland were a close third chased by West Midlands and the South West who were only a few points behind in each case.

Prizes throughout the day were presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire and the Mayor and Mayoress of Grantham.

The competition was extremely well run by Major Terry Dixon and supported by members of the Royal Army Physical Training Corps (RAPTC) along with adult volunteers from Lincolnshire ACF. Our thanks go to Lincolnshire ACF who provided all the administration and managed the accommodation at Beckingham.
