Army Cadets adopt a goat as their mascot

31 August 2012

Cadets from Barton ACF have adopted a two-month old goat as their mascot. The goat, Lancer, lives at Waters' Edge Country Park, where cadets from the Queen's Royal Lancers detachment continue to forge community links. A long-term project for the group is to help rangers at the park care for the nature reserve and wildlife at the park. The goat quickly formed a bond with the cadets, who decided to unofficially adopt the kid.

The cadets are now raising money to buy Lancer a new bad-weather coat, which will have the detachment's cap badge embroidered on it to match their new T-shirts.
