Jordan Wylie MBE<\/a>, one of the Army Cadets National Ambassadors<\/a>, has achieved a remarkable feat by completing his ambitious eco-triathlon, culminating at the iconic Blackpool Tower. Over 31 days, Jordan covered 2,588 kilometres by visiting four towers across Europe and the UK in a gruelling yet inspiring journey. Beginning at the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, he cycled to the Eiffel Tower in France, kayaked across the English Channel, abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, and completed his challenge at Blackpool Tower in the United Kingdom. This exceptional endeavour was undertaken to raise funds for ACCT UK, the charity supporting the Army Cadets. In total, Jordan raised over \u00a322,000 for ACCT UK.<\/p>\n

A Tribute to Jordan Banks<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This monumental challenge was dedicated to the memory of Jordan Banks, a young boy from Jordan\u2019s hometown of Blackpool who tragically passed away in 2021, due to a lightning strike whilst playing football. In his honour, a memorial art wall was unveiled at Blackpool Football Club, serving as a poignant reminder of his legacy and the impact he had on his community.<\/p>\n

An Eco-Friendly Expedition<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Jordan’s journey tested his physical and mental endurance and demonstrated sustainable practices. He cycled on a bike crafted from coppiced wood from a local forest, kayaked 23.7 miles across the English Channel in a kayak made from recycled plastic bottles, and continued to run and cycle across the UK. This environmentally conscious approach highlighted the importance of sustainability in adventure and everyday life.<\/p>\n

A Green Legacy<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In honour of Jordan Banks, the Tower Power Challenge has resulted in the planting of 2588 trees. These trees will provide vital support for over 776,400 mammals, reptiles, birds, and amphibians. They are projected to absorb 23 million litres of water annually and sequester approximately 25,880 kilograms of carbon each year, equivalent to the emissions from driving 18,374 miles. When fully grown, these trees will produce enough oxygen to sustain 367 people and cover an area equivalent to 8.6 football fields. This initiative has also created 38.3 days of employment for local tree-planting communities.<\/p>\n

Supporting the Army Cadets<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Another of Jordan\u2019s Tower Power Challenge<\/a> goals was to generate funds for ACCT REINO UNIDO<\/a>, which plays a crucial role in supporting the Army Cadets.<\/p>\n

Murdo Urquhart, Chief Executive from Army Cadets Charitable Trust UK commended Jordan’s efforts, adding, \u201cThe motto of the Army Cadet Force is To Inspire To Achieve<\/em>. What Jordan Wylie achieved in completing his Tower Power 2024 has been utterly inspirational in all respects. His initial vision about what to do and his ambition to completing it in as sustainable way as possible was hugely imaginative. His physical and mental determination in completing the triathlon, which was arduous and tough, was extraordinary. His adaptability to overcome problems and hurdles on the way, notably the international bureaucracy for crossing the channel was remarkable. All of us at ACCT UK salute you Jordan. Thank you so much for nominating us as your charity for Tower Power 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n

ACCT UK is dedicated to supporting cadets and adult volunteers, providing opportunities for over 5,000 individuals to develop leadership skills, achieve academically, and grow in their careers. The charity funds music, sports, Duke of Edinburgh awards, adventure training, and first aid, and subsidises exciting trips and adventures, including overseas opportunities. ACCT UK ensures that cost is not an obstacle to participation or achievement for cadets facing financial barriers.<\/p>\n

An Extraordinary Journey<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Jordan Wylie’s Tower Power Challenge is a testament to his physical and mental fortitude and a powerful statement on the importance of sustainability and community support.
